SEEDBED LAB GEORGIA - DOCUMENTALITS FOR DEMOCRACY - 2025
A comprehensive initiative supporting young Georgian filmmakers documenting the dramatic social transformations currently taking place in Georgia. The project supports a group of emerging documentary filmmakers and provides them with the opportunity to exchange knowledge with prominent Polish, Ukrainian, and Belarusian specialists. With their support, the Georgian filmmakers created professional pitch trailers for their films. The main objective of the project, in addition to its educational, creative, and promotional functions, was to exchange experiences between Georgian and Ukrainian filmmakers in documenting and the grassroots development of pro-democracy movements and civil society in the former Eastern Bloc countries.
The project was implemented with the financial support of the Mieroszewski Center and in cooperation with the Borderland Foundation and the Polish Institute in Tbilisi.
Translation workshops and seminars held in Tbilisi in April 2025, with renowned Polish and Georgian poets translating each other's works into their native languages. The process was guided by mentors and translators - Magdalena Nowakowska and Katia Wolters. The result was a bilingual collection containing both original and translated works that was published as a book.
The translatory seminars and the public readings of transated works were part of the Polish presence at the Tbilisi International Book Fair. The initiative was financially supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the Polish Institute in Tbilisi as part of the celebrations of the Polish EU Presidency in 2025.
